About Us

The Wokingham Fair Trade Campaign (WFTC) is a non-political group who aim to raise public awareness of fair trade issues in Wokingham Borough and encourage local businesses to stock fairly traded options alongside their existing brands.

Our long term aims are:

  • To enable and encourage the people of Wokingham and visitors to contribute to global poverty reduction, by purchasing fairly traded goods
  • To encourage the traders of Wokingham to stock a wide range of fairly traded goods
  • To enable and encourage the people of Wokingham to take part in letter writing and other activities to advocate policy changes on issues of trade
  • To explore ways in which the principles of fair trade may be applied to local producers
  • The campaign publishes a directory of all the local shops and restaurants who offer Fairtrade items to customers. To be named in the Wokingham Borough Fairtrade Directory as a stockist of Fairtrade goods brings extra publicity - and customers - to local businesses.

The campaign also supports existing fair trade groups in the borough’s schools and churches, creating a network for fair trade supporters to share learning resources and news, and to help publicise fair trade related events.
