WOKINGHAM FAIR TRADE CAMPAIGN CELEBRATES DIRECTORY LAUNCH AT MORRISONS

We all know Fairtrade is an important issue for consumers… but is it easy enough for us to find the right products and make the right choices?

It is now – thanks to the launch of the latest Wokingham Fair Trade Campaign (WFTC) Fairtrade Directory, which provides an extensive list of Fairtrade products available throughout Wokingham borough and details of the establishments that stock them.

To mark the launch members of the WFTC were at Morrisons superstore in Woosehill and Waitrose in Woodley to answer any questions shoppers had about how fair trade and the products available. Customers were also able to collect a free copy of the Wokingham Borough Fairtrade Directory enabling shoppers to locate their favourite fair trade products or find out which fair trade alternatives are available.

Customers were often surprised to see how wide a range of fair trade products is available at supermarkets and other outlets and campaigners were kept busy answering questions and distributing leaflets and free copies of the directory.

Campaign chairman Colin Weedon said: "The launch was extremely successful and we are delighted at the strength of interest being shown here. It is just amazing how fast fair trade is expanding. This new directory contains a huge number of new products which weren’t available last time we did a survey, and that’s only six months ago. People tend to think that fair trade is just about tea and coffee, but that’s not true any more - - you really need our directory if you are to keep up to date with what’s available".

Anybody who wants a copy of the directory can contact the campaign on (0118 979 1156 or email info@wokingham-fairtrade.org.uk.
