What We are Campaigning for

Our Vision Statement:
‘The inhabitants of Wokingham Borough actively support the principles of fair trade. The town’s community is actively engaged in reducing world poverty, especially through educated purchasing.’
We will consider this achieved when we reach the following targets:
Availability
Fairly traded products are available in over 50% of the appropriate shops
Awareness
Over 40% of people in Wokingham are aware of fair trade and what it stands for when random surveys are held
Most schools in Wokingham have Fairtrade groups, and fair trade is covered in the curriculum
Actions
Businesses in Wokingham use fairly traded products
Theatres, cafes, restaurants in Wokingham have fairly traded products on offer
Residents of Wokingham are active in lobbying on ethical trade issues
We are working towards this by:
Holding awareness events around the borough
Providing a central hub for schools, churches and smaller organisations to share information about fair trade
Publicising all local fair trade activity as widely and often as possible
Preparing an application for Fairtrade Zone Status for the borough.
