What We Have Achieved

Here is a timeline of the WFTC’s achievements to date:

  • A regular presence at community events and fairs
  • A growing contact network among other local groups interested in sustainability, such as Wokingham Friends of the Earth and Wokingham Carbon Rationing Action Group
  • Recruitment of over 100 paying members
  • A programme of quarterly four-page newsletters to members launched and ongoing
  • Wokingham borough Fairtrade Directory published (new editions every six months)
  • A programme of quarterly meetings for members which has so far included videos on fair trade issues, wine tasting and idea-gathering sessions
  • Production of a range of awareness leaflets
  • Provision of presentations and speakers, information and support for Fairtrade groups in local schools and churches.
  • Provision of a price-comparison service for local businesses and shops looking for Fairtrade suppliers.

    FAIRTRADE FOUNDATION

    The Fairtrade Foundation issue and regulate the use of the FAIRTRADE mark in the UK



    I-FAT

    The International Association of Alternative Trade issue and monitor the Fair Trade Organisations (FTO) mark



    BAFTS

    The British Association of Fair Trade Shops issue and monitor the BAFTS Mark
